Warning: This Saturday, Jan. 21st, do not go in the water. That’s because you and your crew should make plans to spend the day at MarineMax Clearwater, where there will be a whale of a sale, product demos, food, giveaways and more!

“It’s really going to be a day for the whole family — there’s something for everybody,” said Randi Murphy, MarineMax’s marketing and events manager in Central Florida, of the 1 to 5pm event. “Any type of boater and any person within the family can find something to do. They’re going to have a great time.”

Make sure you and the kids arrive early to this event. At 1 o’clock, a representative from the Clearwater Marine Aquarium will talk about Winter, the famous, finned star of the hit movie “Dolphin Tale.” The dolphin expert will also share the favorite accessory of the aquarium’s most high-profile resident — Winter’s prosthetic tail. A showing of the Warner Bros. movie will follow at 1:30pm, and children will be able to participate in dolphin-themed crafts.

Attendees can also take advantage of the following boating seminars at Saturday’s inaugural event:

Intro To Boating: Our professional skipper will show you the boating basics to help you launch and love your time on the water.

Cooking On Board Your Boat: Culinary expert and galley gal Mary Maskal will demonstrate how to craft delicious meals on your watercraft. Learn some new tips and try a few tasty recipes from the author of “The Yachting Gourmet.”

Electronics: Learn the ins and outs of marine communication and safety equipment, as well as basic radar and chart-plotter operation, night vision and Yacht Controller. What’s the difference between a GPS and AIS? Find out in this informative session.

Preventive Maintenance: From strainer cleaning to engine and generator upkeep, you’ll learn the best ways to keep your boat in tip-top shape in this seminar, which offers instruction to boaters of all experience levels.

Knot Tying: Ensuring that your vessel is secure when you step off the dock is very important. In this session, you’ll eliminate any worry by learning how to tie up to a cleat and other necessary line handling techniques. Whether a bowline, a clove hitch, a trucker’s hitch or other type, you’ll know how to make good, strong knots that are easy to work with.

All seminars are approximately 45 minutes long and start at 1pm, 2pm and 3pm. Save your spot now for these classes by calling the MarineMax Clearwater store at (727) 536-2628.

Of course, significant savings can also be had at MarineMax Clearwater. During this event only, get up to 35% off wakeboards and towables, $50 off Power-Pole anchoring systems, 15% off grills and cookware, and more. Don’t miss out on the “Deal of the Day” — buy two dock lines, fenders, Aryca dry cases, etc. and get one free!

Product representatives from the following companies will be on site to show you the latest boating gear and accessories: Yachta Yadda Luxury Linens at Sea, Mercury Marine Engines, Aryca phone dry cases, Anchor Saver, Cushease pillows featuring Guy Harvey Gear designs and DE-OIL-IT. They will be able to answer all of your questions during the open forum from 4 to 5pm.

Join us this Saturday at MarineMax Clearwater for savings, instruction and fun for the whole boating family!

Rumor has it that the Boat Guy will be grilling up some hot dogs (not a seminar, but you still may learn a little something about tube steaks).

It sounds like a great day with a TON of helpful information and FUN!
